Episode 198: Total Quiz Show

We had so much fun last time that we thought we would invite Rich Spilky, Bob Brown and Dan
Dolan back into the broadcast foxhole for some more Advanced Squad Leader discussion.  Bob gives us his gaming background, we discuss attending tournaments, and then we begin a rousing rendition of ADVANCED QUIZ SHOW (yes, these questions are tricky).  Get your bell ready to use to buzz in and play along with us from the comfort of your own home. When you have Rich playing, you know you are going to get some great rules advice.

  2. Okay...the answer about motion attempt had me scratching my head. I've reread the rule and still not sure it says what you suggest. But what do I know? Well I'll tell you...I got a few shows behind (since last Christmas) and one of the first I listened to when getting caught up mentioned Dave had a little medical scare. SO GLAD you're okay Dave. As it's true that good things can come from bad things, your experience motivated me to start working out in earnest again. I've been running and bike riding these past couple of weeks while listening to your show. I just got caught up today after my run. So keep 'em coming boys. These shows are good for all of us.

  3. Thanks for the feedback Al. We truly appreciate it and are glad to hear that something good has come from our sharing. Dave has lost about 7 pounds and is stuck but will be more motivated having heard from you. As far as the rules go, don't forget that we don't' always know either. We like it when listeners chime in and leave a comment with a correction.

  4. RE: Motion attempt rule. D2.401 says you have to roll for your Motion Attempt during the MPh of an enemy ground unit. You can't wait until the end of the enemy MPh and then make the attempt based on an enemy unit that moved earlier.
I think this was a common misconception maybe based on a ASL Journal article.
Thanks for the shows. You guys are great promoters of ASL with your enthusiasm and humor especially when dealing with the daunting rulebook.
