Episode 30: All That Chas

What better way to start the new year then by getting acquainted with a new friend? Today we welcome Multiman Publishing's Chas Argent to the show. Though Chas joined MMP as a full time employee just recently, he is a well known spirit in the ASL realm. His love of the game along with his organizational skills, commitment, and attention to detail can only bode well for Advanced Squad Leader. Is this the re-dawning of the Age of ASL?

We're happy to have an hour of Chas time today to pick his brain about our favorite topic. This interview was recorded using Skype, which has great audio quality, but we didn't have the video running so there's no peek into his office, unfortunately. Dang! It would be like looking into Santa's workshop -- only BETTER.

Dig it!

  1. Nice interview.

The game store I play some games in sees mostly Euros, Magic, and miniatures. Recently though, some of us have started bringing our ASL stuff. I've taught a few people, and it seems to have taken hold. All it really takes is a single person who can can be the "ASL anchor" for a learning group.

  2. I also asked long ago if "Chas" was short for "Charles" but never got an answer. What a missed opportunity! ;-)

But otherwise, excellent podcast as always.

  3. Excellent podcast guys, nice interview with Chas...thanks a lot! It's funny that CGs take so long to develop , of course I understand all the hard work that goes into them (example Tom Morin's VotG)...though I only play CGs. I don't have any interest in scenarios so I don't buy any action packs (Ok I have AP3..AP5 but no more). Regardin CGs I have: RB, VotG (these two are my top 2) then KGP, Tarawa and I'm looking forward to Red October and Ponyri Station - Kursk.

  4. Thanks for the comments, all. Michael, you remind me that I had the same questions, which I forgot to ask when speaking with Chas. I have subsequently txted with him and he confirms that "Chas" is indeed short for Charles and is pronounced with a "z" sound as in "jazz".

  5. Great interview. I was very pleased to hear that Jim McLeod's Ortona CG was still on the radar. All that was missing was getting Chas to do a guest Box Art Review.

  6. Great suggestion, Andy. Dave will gladly let someone else do a Box Art Review . . . when pigs fly and ASL switches to d20 dice!

  11. Thanks, guys. A pleasant way to spend a lazy hour. It was good to hear Chas' voice, especially since he has to send me a cheque for my article in J#8. ;-)

  12. Wonderful interview, and not dull at all. Actually sort of anti-dull, would that be brilliant?
